Thou whoreson zed! Shakespeare, anyone?

.

Ah, the pleasures of delving into the riches of the Bard!

I did a Google search yesterday on his quotes. I came up with some doozies:

And thus I clothe my naked villainy
With old odd ends, stol'n forth
of holy writ; And seem a saint,
when most I play the devil.

For they are yet ear-kissing arguments.

Glory is like a circle in the water,
Which never ceaseth to enlarge itself,
Till by broad spreading it disperses to naught.

Doubt that the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love - Hamlet
When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions- Hamlet
And then there are Shakespearean insults:

Thou whoreson zed! thou unnecessary letter!
-King Lear

Only a playwright would think 'unnecessary letter' would be an insult....

I do desire we may be better strangers.
As You Like It

Maybe I should repeat that to the blind date who changed her mind about a follow up date that we planned because I didn't give her all the details of the date fast enough?

More of your conversation would infect my brain.
Coriolanus

A good one when debating liberals....

And then here is one I really resonate with since I can't sleep for more than a few hours every single night:

O sleep! O gentle sleep!
Nature’s soft nurse, how have I frighted thee,
That thou no more wilt weigh my eyelids down
And steep my senses in forgetfulness?
2 Henry IV

So, what are your favorite Shakespearean quotes?

And be quick about it, thou thou unnecessary letter!

Dear ole mum- A pictorial review of the upcoming glorious career of the Lonely Man

So, the Lonely Man goes to dealer school a couple of weeks ago and discovers that he hasn't forgot a thing! He was told the week before by a dealer (who makes $80,000/yr) who stopped dealing for three years and then returned, that it's like riding a bicycle, you don't forget.

So the Lonely Man realizes he is ready to go to work as a dealer extraordinaire. He applies at the Flamingo Hotel

and Golden Nugget

and tells his mum about it.

So, mum gets on the network at her workplace (where she makes more than the other dealer) and sets up a "meet" today. So, I am going to meet her at the Imperial Palace today at 1 pm. I am a little hesitant about that cuz I feel I can get a better job on my own. I mean Grace at work, a fellow pit clerk, is moonlighting at the Barbary Coast
and she thinks she's making a Bill a day, that's about $36,ooo/yr. And she got hired there as an inexperienced break-in! Hrrrmph!

But I don't know how much the IP makes these days. Mum used to work there and tells me that I should just get a job anywhere I can to get the necessary experience to qualify for one of those previously mentioned high income levels. But I'd rather do it at a class joint that is making a decent amount of tips- wouldn't you? The IP doesn't enjoy the best reputation here in Vegas....

Perhaps I'm prejudiced. Oh well, time will tell....

NV Senator says Pharmacists' Role Akin to Shoe Salesmen....

.

State senator Michael Schneider (D, of course) basically states that NV pharmacists who conscientiously object to filling deadly prescriptions should just simply fill such orders even as shoe salesmen comply with their customers' shopping decisions. He is quoted saying, "When the doctor prescribes something for the health of the patient, they (pharmacists) have to do it. If they don’t want to do that, they can go sell shoes."

What an insulting bastard.

So, the pharmacist is essentially a mind-numbed robot, not able to provide professional bearing on the medical treatment of his patients? Sen. Schneider wants pharmacists to ignore the Hippocratic oath (First, do no harm) and dispense medical "treatment" that kills an innocent life. Hmmm, sounds to me like the politically correct gods disdain competition.

What an arrogant bastard.

No one, not any highly trained medical professional can defy the will of the PC deities who alone can wreak havoc on every child not yet breathing . They will decide if such pre-born mortals shall live or die. Not some "professional" who would put ethics above the will of the elite. Nor the governing board of said medical professionals; no, only the anointed, the elite, the death-mongering uber-men, can wield this holy power.

A flock of overbearing bastards.

"You shall be like gods," the serpent tempted Eve in the Garden, and, boy, do those politically correct principalities take the serpent seriously. The wrathful vengeance of these legislative gods overflows and who may stand in their path?

Senator Schneider leaves no doubt about the purpose of SB98, which would destroy the Pharmacist's right of conscience. Who cares if the Nevada Constitution says in Art. 1 Section 4, “Liberty of conscience. The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship without discrimination or preference shall be forever allowed in this state…the liberty of conscience is hereby secured…?”

What the hell authority does the Constitution have compared to the powers of the politically correct elite? The Constitution shall be trampled by the uber-men, it is only a trifle in their way. Nay, they shall not allow such technicalities to stand in the way of their doctrine.

What abusive bastards.

Nor shall they allow mere mortals to impose constitutional limits upon them. For they shall be like gods. So, Nevadans will stand idly by, while these evil bastards swat away the Constitutional rule of law and punish those that defy their will, won't they?

Can you say Nancy Becker?

Right thinking about our government

.

___________________Government agent?

Over at Bettnett, Dom's blog, who's family by the way, dearly needs your prayers, he protests a local governmental idea which would require a government-appointed agent to visit parents of newborns at the hospital or at home as soon as possible after birth, ostensibly to make sure everything was "alright". I can imagine what these agents would be looking for during such visits.

I protested this governmental intrusion in the life of the family by quoting the opening scene of Serenity, where River explains to the teacher why everyday people don't want to be meddled with (see first comment). Later I hit the nail on the head with a statement that expresses the proper way to view government:

The family and church are the government’s biggest competitors for control of society. Naturally, they seek to oppress those who would vie with them for such control.

It is our sacred duty and desperate need for survival to out-oppress them. To avoid civil war, the duty of which is written into our founding documents, we must vigorously and constantly dominate our government, we must beat them into submission, flog them into despair and mold them into the obedient little public servants that they are.

Already some have predicted a bloody civil war to stop abortion, look what it took to stop slavery. Freedom isn’t free.

We mustn't blanch at our sacred duty. Our children deserve to have this great experiment of freedom endure. The world looks to us to continue this rich republic and its wonderful ways.

Are you doing your part?

Requiem for Jason

Jason was a homeless man who lived at the Catholic Worker as I do now. My best friend, Mark, hired him in his window cleaning business. That's mainly how I got to know him, as I wasn't so active back then.
Jason was always rather cheerful and open to anyone around him. He treated you as if he knew you for a long time. He was friendly and unassuming.
Once he told me of his sister's suffering, she has bipolar, and I could tell he disdained her for taking medication. He was an ex-drug addict and I guess he saw all chemicals as drug abuse. He once spoke of his own depression problems.
Jason would come in and out of our lives. He would say he needed "Holy Spirit time" and would wander for a couple months at a time.
One day I was told he hung himself a month earlier, surprising Mark and I. Sad and shocking.
Later, Mark told me how, months earlier, he got a phone call from Jason who was in a near panic and in deep confusion. He kept telling Mark to mail his last paycheck to Howard Stern, the radio figure. He gave Mark the address and in great duress he begged Mark to mail it to him. I guess it was Jason taking care of unfinished business as those who commit suicide are wont to do.
Well, a couple months after his death I noticed a note on the Catholic Worker's bulletin board in their kitchen. It was a note from Jason.
Dearest Friends,
How's everyone?
Well, I hope.
I'm really enjoying my time with the Lord. Just Him and I.
It's very precious.
Please tell everyone I'm doing great.
Thank you all so very much.
Love Jason.

*Sigh*

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord;
and may perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Amen.

Lonely Man gets angry at pro-death advocates

I got appropriately snarky on the comment board for Newsweek's article by George Will, a fine, fine thinker in this modern age, on the death mongering for children diagnosed with birth defects like Down's Syndrome, which his son has.

This just sickens me and causes my blood to boil.

Some medical professionals who conduct birth defect screenings, amniocentesis and all, put all kinds of pressure on vulnerable parents to kill their children in the womb. They. Should. Be. Shot.

Or at least ridiculed, painfully, in public discourse. So, since I can't shoot 'em, I lambasted them.

Here's one of my comments on the thread:

Kill Them- They Are Defective

We modern and progressive folk are a rather deadly sort- to the imperfect. Eugenics is it called? Hitler killed off the defective during the Holocaust. We Americans are quietly and ever so furtively doing the same. Nightmarish though it is, we are like those Nazi @%#$@!!.

How many people do you know who have Down's Syndrome or spina bifida? I knew a little girl in the 80's with spina bifida. Haven't seen any in over a decade. Now I know why. We kill them in the womb. Kinda ghastly and horrific. I've suffered from bipolar disorder, should I have been done away with in the womb? My brother has diabetes, how about him?

Would the world be a better place without people like us? Like you?

Then this lady objects to the use of references to the Nazi Holocaust in this argument, trying to silence the use of good rhetoric. To which I said:

Ad hominem, my ass.

Heh, I kind of liked that turn of the phrase. Snarky, huh?

“Well, our job is to bash the President, that’s what we do...”

So sayeth Newsweek’s Evan Thomas.

Right or wrong, we bash away! That could be the Democrat motto of the Ot years (can't say it's the 90's or whatever, so Ot years will have to do).

Their political strategy is to oppose, accuse and berate the conservative agenda, personified in the person of George Bush. It's not victory against America's enemies, but victory against their political opponents, it's the accrual (grammar?) of power for power's sake. I guess you could call it being "power whores."

That's the evil of being a liberal leader in America today. That's why I despise my own senior senator here in Nevada. Harry Reid, the magic man of local land deals, has sold his political soul to the liberal machine. He is but a politically evil mouthpiece of the soulless liberal left.

Alas, he is in position to do such good, too.

Well, not to worry overmuch. The American people are largely conservative in their beliefs. We just have to keep pressing on to gain more ground and let us ourselves be dismayed at the tactics and corruption of our liberal benefactors.

Here's a quote I can't resist regarding all this Demo brouhaha:

Did I tell you my pic in the corner of my blog is a lie? And that I am really short, fat, bald and ugly....

.
Heh. Yeah, that pic is years and years old. Not that I was trying to deceive you folks. I just didn't have access to digitized pics of myself.

I recently bought a scanner/printer/copier. So here are some updated photos of myself. They are about 2 years old....

That's me looking pensive in Starbucks.

Here I am with a friend's baby. I've forgotten how to smile. So has she.

The Lonely Man has been humbled

.

.
I used to have this cool room upstairs and all by itself. It was HUGE and had a connecting nice-sized bathroom. The staircase had a door to it so it soundproofed my space from the rest of the house. It was rather cushy.

I was asked to move downstairs where the Catholic Worker houses folks from off the streets and stuff. Well, a fellow from Canada, Leigh, a humble, unassuming fellow, moved in for a few months, he's an organic farmer by trade and is wintering here for the cold months. His committment level to the Catholic Worker activities is much higher than mine. So, they moved him upstairs and I'm taking his much smaller room in the main part of the house.

All my stuff fits quite nicely here, I got a decent sized bed and some great shelves to put my boxes and books and stuff. It will be noisier, though. Especially on Wednesdays when they have Hospitality Day and invite a dozen homeless folks to eat and shower and spend half the day here. Getting off at 2 am and trying to sleep will pose a challenge. When I get my second job dealing cards I may have to move out to find a more restful place.

Not that I am good at resting these days. For almost a year now I have been unable to sleep well for more than 3-5 hours. I sort of wake up bright eyed and bushy-tailed after a few hours of sleep. This sometimes has me falling asleep while sitting at my station at work, right in the middle of the gorram casino pit! Once I was staring at a rating slip for like 5 minutes in a sleepy fog and I turned around and saw my supervisor staring at me. She likes to sneak up on us and peer at us in the middle of our duties. I sort of jumped and started to decipher the slip and input its data into the computer- don't know how long she was standing there. Heh, she didn't say anything to me, though.

But being humbled is a good thing. God knows my soul can use all the good things it can get. With what I've put it through the last few months.... Cryptic, ain't I?

Father George Chaanine- my priest

.

Tried blogging about this before but was so full of angst that I erased everything and waited for a better time.

Dear reader, what do you do when your favorite priest seems to have acted like a monster? When a man you have affection for attacks an innocent woman in a most heinous manner?

You churn with dark tidal forces deep within. You become shocked, confused, saddened and angry. You question yourself. You question God. You pray.

Well, they caught him outside of Phoenix, AZ, I found out this morning. I only hope he repents fully and says things in the wisest manner. What in the world got into him?

This was very unexpected amongst us parishioners at Our Lady Of Las Vegas. Fr. George has enjoyed the good will and favor of his church members. I have known him as warm, personable, charming and forthright. I never in a million years would have believed he could do such a thing. What madness is afoot here? What darkness has he labored under that would cause such violence? He is either darkened by much evil or is mad, is where I am at today.

And Michealina, the victim, is a beloved cantor here at Our Lady. She has an exceptional singing style, sort of a sophisticated jazziness that belies years of vocal excellence. She seemed humble and upright in all manner of ways. She seems very credible. What a terrible thing to have happened to her.

Pray for us, gentle readers, for Fr. George, Michaelina, the people, the city and public at large.... Pray for us.

A great post on Jimmy Akin about this situation.
